West Coast Adventures Continued...Oregon

We finally made it to the beach...and BOY is it windy! And cold. A big expectations adjustment required by all. Of course it is still gorgeous and fun, even with 35mph winds (and water temps in the high 40s - low 50s). Today we are headed to the Oregon State Aquarium which is supposed to be ultra-cool - you can even touch an octopus. I am not sure yet whether I will take advantage of this feature. Then it is on down the coast to Gold Beach - we are hoping it warms up a little there! The ironic part is we were told by the locals that part of the reason it is so windy is because it is so hot inland (like 5 miles inland - it was 89 degrees there and 58 degrees here!). I am sure someone who understands air currents and physics better than me could explain it all to us.

Pre-beach we were in Hood River, Oregon for two days and then Portland for a day. Both were ultra-cool places we'd love to go back to. The boys skateboarded in both at very cool parks, mountain-biked, and of course browsed the local stores. We had signed up for wind-surfing lessons but alas the day we were supposed go dawned clear and completely CALM. No go. It will have to wait until next time we visit.
